Latest Updates from Our Project:

RCH Shipping Beginning
over 8 years ago – Sun, Aug 09, 2015 at 09:50:27 AM

Hi everyone,

We've updated our Kickstarter database to now allow backers to edit their shipping address.  Our pledge management software is still being worked on, but we want to start sending out the RCH rewards early to the following pledge levels:

  • $10 RCH Only
  • All pledge levels above $100

The $100 pledge levels will receive the RCH set with their Seafarers board once that is sent out (current ETA 3-4 months).

If you are a backer under the $10 pledge level or any pledge level at $185 or above, please do the following.  Head over to our project page, scroll down until you see your selected pledge reward level on the right. It will be highlighted in green. Click on "Your Response" and make any necessary changes, then click Save. See below for an example.  If no changes are made, the RCH sets will be sent to the address we currently have on file, so please make sure the shipping address is correct.

Important Note for All Backers: If you pledged additional money for more RCH sets, please make sure you make a note of it in your survey response or message me on Kickstarter to notify me so that I can manually update your fulfillment quantities. Until we get our pledge management software up and running I'll have to track this manually in a spreadsheet. Thank you!

We're going to give everyone about a week to update their address, then shut down the editing functionality and begin shipping the RCH sets on Monday, August 10.

The Seafarers mold is currently in polishing as of Wednesday.

Once the Seafarers mold is back from the polishers, production will begin for the Seafarers boards.  Production quantity for this fulfillment is very high, roughly 14,000 individual parts, so production alone will take about 2-3 months at full capacity. Shipping will commence as we produce though, so there will be a rolling fulfillment period.  Shipping will roll out in order of pledge time, so if you were early to back the project you'll get your boards first as a thank you for your early support.  If you pledged for a Seafarers board you can update your shipping address as early as today, however, by following the instructions above.

All for now, thank you.

Seafarers Mold and BackerKit Update
almost 9 years ago – Fri, Jun 19, 2015 at 11:16:28 AM

Hi everyone,

I just got off a GoToMeeting call with the owner of a pledge management software company that is currently in private beta. He's managed the fulfillment for Exploding Kittens, The Coolest, and some other highly successful campaigns.

I really liked what he showed me, and I think we're going to be using them instead of BackerKit. Fortunately we haven't sent out any BackerKit surveys yet, otherwise I'd have been pretty bummed. I think you'll like the simplicity and design of this site's software.

One bonus of using this software will be that their team plays a much more hands-on role in ensuring that their software is completely customized for our exact situation.

We have a pretty odd situation to deal with, having one partially fulfilled Kickstarter and one new Kickstarter, and it will be nice to consolidate it all into one system (and much less confusing for our backers).

Seafarers Mold

The Seafarers mold is done with the CNC re-work and will be sent to the polisher at the beginning of next week. After polishing, we'll be able to begin production on the Seafarers boards! Can't wait.

Also, I have a Kickstarter to share that has some pretty interesting personal backstory behind it. Long before I ever got involved in the board gaming industry I was deadset on bringing a quality iPad mount to market that would provide a great point of sale iPad stand for small merchants. I knew that the simplicity of Square and other iOS merchant applications would make having an iPad as a point of sale a no-brainer. One of the products that came out of this was the Pad Grip. My former business partner on the project has launched a Kickstarter bringing some of the same durability and rigidity of the Pad Grip to the iPhone mount market, and having tested a couple of them, I can say they're pretty solid.

They only have about $4k left to get funded, so I'm sure they'll do fine, but I just wanted to share it as it's nice to see the product technology and its local manufacturers are still doing well.

BackerKit and Seafarers Update
almost 9 years ago – Tue, Jun 09, 2015 at 12:28:59 PM

Hi everyone,

We found out the reason behind the delays in working with BackerKit was the employee I was working with is no longer working there. After getting in touch with a primary contact, we got our BackerKit setup that very same day, so that will be going out soon.

I have an unfortunate/mildly embarrassing update regarding the Seafarers mold.  Three days ago we got an email from our CNC manufacturer asking where the PO was for the rework and new flow channel.  There was some confusion, as we were almost positive we'd sent it.  Nevertheless a PO was re-sent and confirmed.  So while we thought the mold was in the pipeline over there this entire time, it was not.  We're still not sure how the miscommunication occurred, but I'm confident they'll do the work right. It does set the timeline back about two-three weeks though. I wish I had some other more understandable/less embarrassing reason for why this delay occurred, but I don't.

I'll update as soon as we get the mold back and sent to polishing.

Hope everyone's having a swell weekend.
